Client Story: Sunshine Coast Hospice Society

The Sunshine Coast Hospice Society is an inspirational group of volunteers who dedicate much of their life helping others to live while dealing with terminal illness. It’s sacred ground in the human soul, this giving of comfort and assistance… not only in dying, but in the living that is left to those dealing with life threatening illnesses.

The local Society needed a web site that would provide a respected presentation online of their mission and goals, and share with site visitors important work the Society does in the community – and gives public recognition to the considerable roster of private individuals and businesses donating funds and elbow grease to this critically needed Sunshine Coast organization.

We chose a design that used the Hospice Society’s recognized color palette, with a well-structured navigational system, clear presentation of information and images, integration with CanadaHelps.org to enable the Society to accept electronically generated one-time and repeating donations, and a contact form that reduces spam for administrators to deal with.

Video will be added to the site over the coming year, since technology tells a story best when we can see a real person and are compelled from the best part of ourselves to respond.

While the Society volunteers could manage this site themselves through the WordPress administration tools provided, they have instead elected to make changes on a quarterly basis through Bad Dog’s non-profit rate maintenance program and save up groups of changes. This leaves them free to do what they do best, which is assisting people in our community – people we know and love – to die with dignity and their spirit intact. It is a privilege for Bad Dog Design to play a part, however small, in this endeavor.
